Portrait of My Heart marks a bold step into the future for the SPELLLING, one that pushes the project into new sonic territory while retaining the singular voice that has made her one of the most exciting songwriters of the past decade. SPELLLING goes into a more energetic direction, instead of the more whimsical landscape present in her previous work. This more energetic nature can be attributed to Cabral’s re-immersion in the Bay Area underground that nurtured her when she first started playing music.
