STAFF PICKS OF THE WEEK (ANNELIESE)

Yung Lean - Stranger : Stranger is the 3rd record by Swedish rapper Yung Lean (Jonatan Leandoer) who (in my opinion) is one of the most interesting artists I’ve ever followed as a fan.

The record coincides with a very tumultuous period in Leandoer’s life- it was his first release following his hospitalization after a drug induced mental breakdown and the death of his close friend and manager Barron Machat, while touring together.

The vocals are painterly, exploring Leandoer’s mental health and questioning what is real and what belongs to a dreamscape. The instrumentals are equally dreamy and chilling; sparse and rich.
